Yes! The crowd cheered! Against all the odds we had won our second successive debate of the year. Once again it was a close contest but our Belmore South courage and determination pulled us through and victory was ours!

So far we are 2/2 and flying high. Here was the team for the debate…

1st speaker: Celia

2nd speaker: Naomi

3rd speaker: Ramiz (me)

Team Adviser: Natalie

 Chairperson: Justin

Timekeeper: Timothy

The topic was that “Junk Food Should Be Banned From School Canteens”. We were the affirmative so we were saying that it should be banned. Our opposition were Strathfield South and they looked to have it won until their 3rd speaker stuttered and made a few mistakes; it was that close! Let’s hope we can strive again and go one step further than last year.

P.S Have you noticed that all the debaters are from the Allstars?

  1. I think the AllStars team work shines through - there are lots of brains sharing ideas and encouraging each other. Keep on working as a group and using people’s strengths and you should be able to keep coming up with strong points and great rebuttals :)

Great results - but its the teamwork and learning together that’s important - well done!

  2. Hi Ramiz,
That was a great debate and I agree with Mrs P about out great rebuttals!

I have noticed that all the debaters are from our class, it was the same last year. Although Justin has got a spot, Mr McG said Timtam might not be in the team, which leaves a spot for someone from another class.

I think we’ll go great this year but the next debate seems pretty hard! I hope we win :D

  3. Hi,
I think that it was very close and they could have won it but as you are saying their third speaker made a mistake so that is what costed them it. Although they lost I think that they had very good points. The rebuts were very good and if I were judjing it would have been a tie.
    Toooooooodles :D :P

  4. Hello! :D
Yes, there’s nothing more important than team work! Without it you will struggle.

Nevertheless the other weren’t that bad. We really had to work for the win. Rebuttals were excellent (as usual!) and I think it was this factor that pulled us through!

    Well done everyone!
